NEW SITE Digital Content Producer

Job Summary:
The Digital Content Producer will be expected to create video stories with an emphasis on programming for the web and to be able to assist in other TV productions. The Digital Content Producer will also be the content editor of our web page and social media pages.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Assistance with production of our programs (producing, videography, and editing);
  • Upload programming to KSMQ social media outlets;
  • Producing and editing promotions and short form video stories for the web;
  • Assist with live-streaming events;
  • Keep an eye out for new ways to share KSMQ programming digitally;
  • Manage the development, activation, upkeep and advancement of all KSMQ Public Television digital and social media engagement across all platforms including Passport, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and possibly others;
  • Online feedback and data collection;
  • Organize online feedback and impact events;
  • Manage troubleshooting of any technical issues relating to all social digital efforts.
 
Qualifications/Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in television, mass communication, marketing, or digital media preferred;
  • Experience with producing short form video stories;
  • Media file management experience;
  • Passion for social media and thorough skills and strategic understanding of social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Computer literacy required (Word, Outlook, Excel);
  • Video editing experience (preferably Final Cut X);
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and writing skills;
  • Strong collaboration skills and “team player” attitude;
  • Ability for independent thought, problem-solving skills and the foresight to involve others when needed;
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
  • Accuracy and reliability for exceptional attention to detail;
  • Even temperament, especially when working under tight deadlines;
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50#, and have the ability to perform physical functions as required;
  • Be a self-starter, show initiative;
  • MMJ experience a plus;
  • Drone license also a plus.

NEW SITE Broadcast Engineer

JOB TITLE:  Broadcast Engineer

REPORTS TO:  Chief Engineer                                                                  

FLSA CLASSIFICATION :  Full Time - Salary/Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the operational readiness, maintenance, installation, and testing of all broadcast equipment. Successful candidate must relocate to Austin, MN area and work on site. This is not a virtual or remote position.

The job also requires a thorough understanding of Master Control and technical production processes, workflow, signal flow, and the operational proficiency with job-related equipment and software.

New employees of KSMQ Public Service Media, Inc. must show proof of vaccination against COVID-19, or document, to our satisfaction, a legitimate medical or religious reason for not getting the vaccination. We will accommodate a vaccine exemption by requiring regular employee-paid testing at a frequency of our choosing and proof of a negative test result. 

JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Operate all broadcast equipment, including but not limited to: Studio and field digital video cameras, video servers, routing and switching systems, automation systems, satellite earth-station controllers and receivers, UHF NTSC/ATSC transmitters, microwave radio links, and camera video control panels, and programming.
  • Perform as a production, operations, maintenance, or transmitter engineer as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, perform software and hardware maintenance, and install all production and broadcast related equipment.
  • Maintain quality control of recorded materials and take responsibility to discern the issue to correct it.
  • Monitor and log transmitter status.
  • Perform all broadcast related job functions required by the FCC and maintain broadcast signals within FCC guidelines. 
  • Attend training sessions relevant to the job function at the station.
  • Install and maintain office computers and networking equipment.  Provide upgrades and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain station IT network and server platforms and manage data recovery procedures and operations as needed.
  •  Exhibit a strong commitment to the mission and goals of public broadcasting.

 EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (An equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum two years Master Control operations and maintenance and broadcast experience, or five years related experience. Transmitter operation and IT administration experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs, and have the ability to perform physical functions as required.
  • Must have the ability and flexibility to travel to ancillary studio and other locations as required.
  • Must be willing to work a varied, flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to providing excellence in a finished product.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and timelines as required.  Must be detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while shifting priorities as required.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Must be able to handle stress in an appropriate manner and be able to manage projects in a manner that is both collegial and productive.
  • Strong PC and MAC computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, …), Windows XP/Vista/7, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and related software.
  • Willingness to learn new specialized software tailored to specific broadcast applications (e.g. Logo insertion, intercom routing, video routing, etc.)
