About Smart Money

Smart Money Connections is geared toward Generation X/Y (ages 18 to 35) to get them thinking about their financial future and introduce them to investing skills and concepts. With real-life video clips and a live audience, this series will be a hip show aimed at getting these generations thinking about the advantages and wisdom of investing.

Meet our Panel

Each week we will hear from six people in different stages of life. From just out of school to a married couple in their mid-thirties. You’ll get to know them as we introduce a new topic at the beginning of every show.

Chad is 25 years old, single with children, a homeowner and going to law school. He doesn’t have any savings and hasn’t thought about financial planning yet. He's looking forward to learning more about planning for the future.

Courtney is 23 years old and recently graduated from University of Minnesota.  She's also a homeowner and is getting married in a few months. Courtney has a small savings account but doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about financial planning.  She is studying to be a para-legal.

Nick is 19 years old currently attending a community college and plans on transferring to a four-year school for Business Administration. Nick is single, lives at home and works full-time. He has no financial plans and has a small savings account.

Shawn & Meredith are in their mid-30s, home owners, married fourteen years with three children. They have a 401K plan and some savings. Meredith is going back to work in the fall and is looking forward to increasing their savings.

Stacy is 34 years old, married with two young children and has a house with her husband. She has a degree in education. She and her husband work with a financial advisor—they have investment accounts but feel they have more to learn.

Dustin Quimby: Host

Dustin is currently an independent Financial Advisor with a national financial firm. Previously, Dustin was in upper management for Home Depot, a fortune 100 retail company with an local annual revenue of $14,000,000.

Dustin was responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the business unit. Prior to Dustin’s time with Home Depot, he has years of management experience in the grocery industry.

Dustin is a past president of the Albert Lea Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and currently serves on the United Way Allocation Board. In addition to Dustin’s financial experience and civic duty, Dustin personally owns 25 mixed use rental units in Southern Minnesota.

Cory Huber: Host

Cory has been living and working in Southern Minnesota for the past 2 ½ years. He's an advocate of empowering youth in self-sufficiency. His desire is not only to educate today's youth in investing, but also in proper money management. Cory has been working in the financial industry for 10 years and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in business administration.
