Pet Connections topics ran the full spectrum of pets from dogs and cats to reptiles and large animals. The series was designed for pet lovers and owners alike who want to ensure their pets live long, healthy and happy lives.

Pet Connections host Mike Schnell talked in-depth with guest experts from the area about the particular topic and then gave the audience the opportunity to call in and ask questions during the live taping of the program. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the basics of choosing a pet, training and socialization, environmental needs, health care, special requirements and much more.

About the Host

When KSMQ started a search for the host of our new pet series, Mike Schnell’s name surfaced. People who referred him to us knew Schnell was passionate about pets and had worked with them his whole life. Indeed, he impressed KSMQ employees when he enthusiastically embraced the three dogs, two cats and bird often found at our studios.

He attributes his comfort with all animals to the stories he was told and experiences he had as a child while out with his father, an animal control officer.

Prior to beginning of Season One, Schnell said, "I'm excited about this opportunity. I have always had a passion for animals and this will allow me to share that passion and my unique experiences with others. I have three adopted pets, I've worked at a zoo, and my father was an Animal Control officer—so I've been exposed to a lot of wild pet scenarios.
I look forward to talking with other animal lovers about a wide-range of pet related challenges and opportunities."
