Building on the success of Food Connections, we're pleased to bring viewers Food Connections: Cultural Edition—this 13 week series introduces viewers to the various cultures in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa through their food. Each week, guests share their knowledge and expertise, and answer your calls and questions.

Dan Hernandez
Dan currently serves as Director of Innovation at Hormel Foods Corporation, where he is in charge of developing distinctive new products that help bolster the company’s portfolio of flavorful and quality products.

Dan grew up in a diverse neighborhood in San Francisco, where his neighbors included newly arrived immigrants from Italy, Germany, Mexico, Latin America and Asia. It was in this environment that his passion for food and global ethnic cuisine began to develop.

Professionally, Dan has focused his career on obtaining an intimate knowledge of what consumers are seeking in food. Hernandez has a profound love for cooking and enjoys the rich experiences food can deliver. Having grown up as an obese child, Dan has made a life long commitment of living a life “balance.” It’s not a complicated formula. It’s perfectly ok to indulge, but striving for a life of moderation and balance are the keys to living a healthy lifestyle.

Dan is a graduate of the University of San Francisco where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
