About the Series...

This special program marks the first Legacy production at KSMQ. What legacy, you ask? That’s what this program will answer. And it all connects with the recent amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, Article XI, Section 15, commonly referred to as the Legacy Amendment.

We talk with some of the people who were behind the initiative that resulted in the 2008 amendment, and with a few who expect to benefit from the funding in the coming months and years. Most important, we’ll be talking with you, our viewers, about your take on the legislation and how you’d like to see KSMQ play its part.

So, whose legacy are we talking about here? Yours. Ours. This program explores what that means, and how you can continue to play a part in this sweeping effort to preserve, enhance, and document southern Minnesota’s quality of life.

We’ll also give you a sneak peek at some of the other programs that will be among KSMQ’s Legacy productions, including our signature Legacy series, OFF 90.

About Catherine Russell
Legacy Production Manager

With years of creative experience in film, journalism, research and in the fine and performing arts, Catherine is new to Minnesota, having been drawn here by the opportunities presented by this very special statewide production effort.

Her most recent media work has involved larger projects, film biographies that chronicle both the lives of people and the history of place, and many of these films have been seen on the Maine Public Broadcasting network. She has also worked as a theatre performer, director, and producer for both adults and young people, with companies both professional and enthusiastically amateur. Overall, Catherine firmly believes that some amazing things can happen in—and because of—the arts.

About Donny Rowles
Producer

Donny worked at KAAL-TV as a reporter for more than four years before joining the KSMQ team. He has a degree in journalism and formal training in writing for television and film. For Donny, the Legacy project offers a chance to discover and tell some of the most interesting, compelling stories of Southern Minnesota, stories that people who’ve lived here for decades might not even know.

About Matthew Bluhm
Producer

Before joining the staff at KSMQ, Matt was a producer of commercials, gaining experience in several areas of video production. He received degrees in both English and Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University. Matt already has great personal interest in the topics that will be part of the KSMQ’s Legacy productions, and he is especially energized by all the possibilities.
