Welcome to KSMQ! On behalf of everyone at KSMQ, I would like to personally welcome you to our website—and thank you for selecting KSMQ as your PBS station.
I invite you to experience our new locally-produced series; Food Connections which premiered in November, plus Garden Connections which premiered in late spring and the exciting Cities On the Move launched in April. In February we began Pet Connections, Season One concluded in April—however we're please to offer online streaming video, so you may watch segments of the series. Each of these KSMQ produced series' takes advantage of local resources who have expertise on specific subject matter and showcases the assets we have here in the region that KSMQ serves.
We also aired our documentary on life here at home during World War II, the entire program is available to watch online, simply go to the Stories from the Homefront web page.
Plans are underway for the launch of Family Talk. It is our hope that this informative series will become a permanent part of the schedule and will cover topics that run the gamut from early childhood related issues to teens and parents and more.
All of these new initiatives are the foundation for what I believe to be the purpose of local public television—to act as a public square for the communities it serves, becoming the central resource for the exchange of intra-regional information on local cultural events, interesting people and places, civic and governmental successes and issues, economic development, educational growth, and other topics which contribute to growing and building healthy communities.
As your public square for information, we are not only committed to being the region’s primary source of information during an emergency situation, but have, in the meantime, posted our important and useful two-part program on this site called Emergency Preparedness. The first of these programs covers the plans of action around the region in the event of pandemic flu, the second covers the plans for general winter disasters.
So, please enjoy exploring our website and our new blogKSMQ where you’ll discover the variety of wonderful things KSMQ and your community has to offer. I'm certain you’ll be amazed by all the interesting, fun and thought-provoking local news and events you’ll find! I welcome your comments and suggestions, feel free to contact me via e-mail or by calling the station toll-free at 800-658-2539.
Warmest regards,
Sandra Session-Robertson
