We positive, safe and educating viewing alternatives for your family. We're also continuing to explore new ways to serve you better—and we're also using our capabilities to become  the regional “town square,” to go beyond television to provide you with ever greater resources and information, better station events, more useful workshops—helping to create a community that can work together to care for and nurture our children.

Beyond Television is our motto for a reason. Not only is KSMQ the region’s best resource for quality programming, we are also committed to providing local kids and families with other resources that enhance their lives through and beyond their viewing experience, specifically for this community.

The programs and services you receive from KSMQ reflect important values. These values are at the core of what makes KSMQ different and why you—parents, grandparents, teachers and caregivers—tell us KSMQ is a positive force for the children in your lives. Below we've provided you with a list of some of the ways KSMQ serves you locally.

Support from viewers like you give us the ability to provide children with the opportunity to get to know old friends like Cookie Monster and Trolley, as well as a host of wonderful characters from newer shows like Curious George and Dragon Tales.

Family Connections
As your regional PBS station, we continually look for ways we can serve our viewers, like you, more effectively. This spring we’re bringing parents, families and those who care about children, Family Connections—the latest installment in our Connection series. The program provides valuable, insightful and a variety of information for today’s families and caregivers.

Share Your Story on KSMQ
KSMQ lets kids and families read sections of their favorite books on the air!  We believe this exciting opportunity promotes regional awareness of the importance of literacy and reading. Kids can go to Share Your Story and let us know what their favorite book is and why. We will choose on-air readers based on these responses! If you don’t get it the first time, try again— there will be many chances!

Train the Trainer Sessions 
Working with various partners, KSMQ will provide media literacy trainings to parent educators who can, in turn, train others.  There will also be a host of other training opportunities provided upon request.  If you are interested in receiving training, have a training need or would like more information, send us an email: ksmq@ksmq.org.
