JOB TITLE:     Digital Content Manager

REPORTS TO: Managing Editor

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:         Full Time - Salary/Exempt



The Digital Content Manager is the hands-on manager and content editor of the web page, social media, PBS/local content interface, and short and long-term digital strategies for KSMQ Public Television.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, activation, upkeep and advancement of all KSMQ Public Television digital and social media engagement across all platforms including Passport, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and others;
  • Ensure website is current and compelling;
  • Collaborate with producers to conceptualize and execute online campaigns for each local program produced by KSMQ Public Television, including non-linear editing;
  • Hands-on involvement in the social and digital marketing of KSMQ Public Television; generate ongoing content and engagement ideas including on-line events, strategic placement of Facebook and other digital ads, and development of digital partnerships;
  • Provide regular long-term social media strategy and track technological innovations, including PBS digital initiatives (Media Manager and Curate);
  • Non-linear editing of shorts for digital and broadcast placement (station IDs, proof of performance, promos, etc.);
  • Utilize analytic tools to track and report on engagement, response, and general effectiveness of all initiatives;
  • Manage troubleshooting of any technical issues relating to all social digital efforts.


  • Bachelor’s degree in television, mass communication, marketing, or digital media preferred; 
  • Minimum of three years of social media and/or marketing or communications experience;
  • Demonstrable television media file management experience;
  • Passion for social media and thorough skills and strategic understanding of social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Computer literacy required (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel); 
  • Video editing experience (preferably Final Cut X);
  • Ability to juggle a variety of content, manage many details, complete multiple daily tasks, and meet deadlines;
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple groups/levels in an organization;
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50#, and have the ability to perform physical functions as required.

 Desired Characteristics

  • Fluent knowledge of Content Management System (CMS); knowledge of Volicon and Passport a plus; 
  • Strong communication and writing skills; demonstrated ability to write with clarity and succinctness as well as with wit and humor;
  • Keen ability to express creative ideas and contribute to developing innovative concepts;
  • Strong collaboration skills and “team player” attitude.
