Position:

President and Chief Executive Officer

KSMQ-TV, Public Service Media, Inc. is seeking a strong leader and experienced manager to serve as its President and CEO. KSMQ-TV, based in Austin, Minnesota, provides public television service to southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. The President and CEO reports to the KSMQ Board of Directors.

KSMQ Offices in Austin, Minnesota

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic discipline.

A minimum of ten years experience in television or public media.

Five years experience at the senior management level.

Successful experience with strategic and financial planning, fundraising, and governmental relations.

Entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

A commitment to EEO.

Strong leadership and integrity.

Personnel management skills, and an understanding of new technologies.

The successful candidate should be a strategist and “big picture” thinker who is also a hands-on tactician, someone capable of linking goals to day-to-day operations, who believes in the public broadcasting mission.

Key Functions:

Oversee daily operations of the station. KSMQ has a staff of 14 and an operating budget of $1.2 million.

Develop and implement strategies to enable KSMQ to better serve the region.

Coordinate with graphic artists and other freelance writers as needed.

Provide management direction to department heads.

Compensation:

Starting compensation commensurate with qualifications.
